™Welcome!
Want to stock trout in your local stream, pond or lake?
Want to start a stream restoration, conservation, protection or watershed
project? We can help! We will stock trout for you for about $6.00
per pound, plus any extra travel costs. Pick a stream, pond or lake and we
will get it started. We'll keep it simple, but here is more info for you:
Who Are We?
A group of stream and fishery conservationists and trout fishermen just
like you who grew tired of waiting for state Fish & Game departments to
stock local streams, enforce public laws on lakes, public ponds or streams and
to fund hatcheries with license fee monies legally designated
for that purpose. So………we decided to do it ourselves, started overseeing
and reporting local stream impacts, educating local people about watershed
issues, purchasing and stocking quality, private-hatchery raised trout paid for
by our friends, volunteers and contributors. We have made amazing progress by
working aggressively in all of these areas.
We are sponsored fiscally by a 501c3 IRS Public Benefit Nonprofit Corporation- The Frazier Park Visitors Center™. All contributions, expenses or purchases related to our operations are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Email us if you would like to make a contribution at shopoutd@qnet.com .
What Do We Do?
If you simply want to stock trout in your area, we will run a survey on
any stream, lake or pond of your choice and talk to regulatory agencies to
determine if it meets stocking guidelines in terms of eligibility, water
quality, temperatures and flows. If its in our immediate service area, we
will visit the location and make suggestions to you regarding habitat enhancement that you should
consider before stocking. That work may require permits
and permit fees from your local stream management public agencies, which we can
guide you on, or coordinate for you on a consulting basis.
We can assist you in establishing local stream and watershed protocols, procedures, inventory systems, mapping and conservation projects. Educating your community’s residents about the economic value of a strong fishery and about local water issues is THE key to running a successful conservation, stocking and protection program- we can guide you on that. Your town will benefit in numerous ways by doing so. Many public agencies offer grants and educational resources for assisting you in this effort.
As soon as funds and a facility become available, we plan on rearing our own trout and involving local schools in that part of our project, from eggs to fingerlings and planting..........

Why Do We Do It?
To enhance trout habitat and populations, increase recreation
opportunities, improve economics in lake, pond or stream-served communities,
protect or improve local water resources and, if necessary, use the existence of
trout fisheries to protect water bodies or streams that may otherwise be
jeopardized by pollution, development, diversions and other negative activities.
The presence of trout in a water body or stream adds strength to numerous legal
protections under county, state and federal legislation.

Stocking Procedures, Coordination and Pricing
Under our trout stocking program, once a survey and permits are
completed, we will apply contributions from you and others in your neighborhood
to purchasing quality trout from the closest private hatchery. If
we do not raise enough contributions for the lake, pond or stream of your choice
to make it profitable enough for the hatchery to stock that body, we will
contact you about applying your contribution towards stocking other locations in
your region that we are working on. In So. Calif., plan on paying
approximately $3.50 to $4 per lb. of trout. Prices elsewhere are totally
dependant on the price we are able to purchase the fish for. Your best
bargains are in the small trout sizes, where you can get 2 to 3 fish per pound. PlantATrout™ adds about $1 per lb. to the price we pay to cover our
transportation, oversight activities, phone calls, gas and enhancement analysis
expenses. We will be happy to share more info about that or other revenue
and expense figures with you at ANY time. Call or email us for an exact
quote for your area.
Permits
Trout stocking or aquaculture permits from local Fish & Game or Fish & Wildlife service
agencies may be required for stocking fish in the stream or water body of your
choice. Fees for those permits will be the responsibility of the
requesting stocking party. In California, that fee is about $250, and a
regional biologist may wish to survey the water body or stream prior to
stocking.
What Lake, Pond or Stream and Location?
Step one is to Email Us and let us know the EXACT location where you are
interested in stocking or setting up a conservation project and your anticipated budget
and # of volunteers. We
will respond and let you know about other requests and contributions we have
received for that location or any nearby locations. If you are looking to
partner with other contributors, we will refer you to them also.
